Born into a middle-class rural family in Yakawewa, Medawachchiya, Sri Lanka, Sussil faced significant obstacles in his early years, lacking the traditional factors associated with success, such as financial resources, an elite family background, or English education. Through hard work, determination, and an unwavering belief in his abilities, Sussil carved a remarkable career in the insurance and financial services industry in Sri Lanka and Fortune 100 companies in the United States. 

Professional Career:  Sussil Liyanage made history as the first Sri Lankan Insurance Agent, Manager, and Trainer with experience in two major Fortune 100 companies: New York Life and MetLife. As a Financial Advisor, Sussil reached the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) and achieved over 435% Platinum Level Management Production as a Senior Manager and Manager in the USA. His impressive achievements were built on a foundation of dedication, leadership, and a passion for training and development

Before ascending to his roles as Director of Education and Training, Vice President International, Lead Trainer, International Speaker, and Coach, Sussil served as the Assistant General Manager of Training and Development at Allianz Insurance and Partner at New York Life Insurance Company’s New Jersey General Office. During his tenure as a Partner at New York Life, he successfully recruited and developed Executive Council members and MDRT producers. Sussil also achieved Platinum Level Production with an outstanding 435% in 2011, further solidifying his reputation as an influential leader.

Early Career: Sussil began his career at the young age of 20 as a sales consultant with Ceylinco Life, Sri Lanka's largest insurance company. His exceptional sales and leadership skills led to rapid promotions, eventually earning him the role of Executive-in-Charge at a branch in Kekirawa at just 22 years old. His drive for excellence continued throughout his career, eventually leading him to become Senior Sales Executive, Assistant Regional Sales Manager, and later, a prominent figure in multinational companies such as MetLife and New York Life. At MetLife, Sussil excelled as a Financial Services Representative and Investment Advisor, earning awards as a Superstar and the Top Disability Income Product Producer in 2008. These accomplishments laid the groundwork for his future success at New York Life and beyond. 

 Professional Development and Certifications:  Sussil’s thirst for knowledge and personal growth led him to pursue numerous prestigious professional development programs. He completed the Professional and Personal Development Program for Management at Harvard Business School, Chartered Leadership Fellow (CLF) at the American College, and a range of certifications in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), coaching, hypnotherapy, and timeline therapy. Additionally, he underwent advanced training with internationally renowned trainers, including Anthony Robbins, T. Harv Eker, Les Brown, and Prof. Tad James. Sussil’s commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth ensures that his training remains on the cutting edge of industry practices.
